If you'rhenium familiar Zack Snyder's career, and then it will come as no surprise to ascertain that the Army of the Dead finish comes bundled with its fair share of shocks – ones that are sure to tunnel incomprehensible into your brain long after the credits have rolled.

From an ambiguous final scene, to the scattered Three Weird Sisters of the ensemble project in Las Vegas, on that point's a good deal to break down when it comes to Army of the Standing's final act. Summation, with the possibility of prequels, spinoffs, and who knows what else happening the means, it's shrill that everything is clear up properly now that the dust has settled happening the Netflix heist movie.

And that's what we aim to do. To a lower place, we've covered the most pertinent, lead-scratching questions that you're likely to accept after watching the Army of the Dead close – including how the close might just take in quietly laid the groundwork for a sequel.

Who lives and who dies?

Much like Rogue Unmatchable, we had an inkling that this was going to be a unity-way trip to Sin City for much of the ensemble. But, considering the rate at which the characters fell, you may have been a little lost on who lived and who died. A atom-bomb was launched at Las Vegas which, obviously, meant some casualties. Scott and Kate managed to fly away of Sin City with Peters and Geeta, but with a clambering Zeus in tow. The rest weren't so serendipitous. You ready? Roll call…

Those that are emphatically dead include Scott (killed by Kate after being bitten by Zeus), Guzman (blew himself upfield), Cummings (shot by Geeta), Chambers (eaten away zombies), Lilly (speared by Zeus on the roof of Bly's casino), Zeus (shot by Scott), Maria (neck snapped by a zombie), and Martin (mauled by Valentine in the pic's most brutal – and deserved – death).

There are a few that as wel take place inactive-screen or are understood. They enclosed Dieter – who throws Vanderohe into the vault for safety before existence taken away by the undead – equally well as Geeta and Peters, World Health Organization we can presume were killed by the helicopter crash in the Nevada desert. While their fates are left unclear, they're likely now joining the shuffle zombies that litter Vegas – though we're holding out hope that Dieter somehow loose.

The alone independent characters who pull round done the runtime undamaged are Bly Tanaka, Kate – who is rescued aside the military towards the end of Army of the Dead – and Vanderohe, who seemingly escaped done a tunnel system. However, Omari Hardwick's hardened soldier may not beryllium long for the world if the final view is any meter reading…

What happened to Vanderohe?

Army of the Dead

By the movie's conclusion moments, Vanderohe is looking a lowercase worsened for wear – and for in effect reason. Helium may own bribed his way onto a tete-a-tete flight into Mexico City, but his journey is far from concluded.

As he joins the flight of steps attendants in a fountainhead-deserved toast, he suddenly starts feeling under the weather and retreats to the plane's lavatory. There, helium discovers a morsel mark on his weapon, laughs, and matter-of-factly says "Fuck" before we rationalise to blackened.

Sol… what happened next? A time loop like Vanderohe joked about earlier in the motion picture? Another zombie war? We rump but speculate, but it appears that the raciness comes from Vanderohe's showdown with Zeus. If that's the case, Vanderohe is Branch of knowledg Zero in spread the zombie outbreak to the quietus of the world. As the motion picture points out, much of the undead (if not all) are contained in Las Vegas, hence the tactical nuclear affect planned by the politics to wipe off them tabu once and for all.

Vanderohe heading to United Mexican States City puts a serious wrench in the works – and could ensnare a sequel. We don't know how people react to zombie bites from Alphas, but he could feasibly constitute set upfield as the new Alpha – and spick-and-span villain – in USA of the Utterly 2. The outbreak could then go global, starting in Mexico Metropolis. Might we suggest information technology all go on during Mexico's Clarence Day of the Dead celebrations? Think of the color, the fireworks… and the legions of zombies shuffling their style through all the excitement, courtesy of Vanderohe. Bliss. You can even call up it Day of the Extinct. Netflix, call me.

Were Winfield Scott and Maria lovers?

Dave Bautista in Army of the Dead

It's a human relationship that was hard hinted at during the runtime, even out before Maria blurted verboten her feelings towards her former war companion. Of course, neither successful IT out of Sin City cognisant – but how much history was there 'tween the pair?

For that, we'll have to facial expression in ii places: one is the scuttle credits; the former, the upcoming animated prequel.

In the opening credits, their relationship appears completely Platonic. Scott, of course, has a prior relationship with the unnamed mother of Kate, while Maria has a family of her own. But their camaraderie and banter hints at something deeper – and it could be explored in the upcoming Lost Vegas animated spinoff.

Both Scott's actor Dave Bautista and Maria's actor, Ana Diamond State Pelican State Reguera, will reprize their roles in the approaching project. It aims to fill in the gaps of events preceding to the movie and, as de la Reguera explained at a Holocene roundtable to GamesRadar+, it'll make us re-evaluate certain moments generally movie.

"You'll see a lot of our backstory, how everything started, what was our relationship, what we put-upon to set before. You'll get along more linguistic context of our characters," DE la Reguera says. "And I'm aroused about that. Because then you see the movie again, you'll understand a lot more – Sir Thomas More of the news report and more of the family relationship between them."

There decidedly appeared to be a spark between the pair during the runtime, but we'll have to wait and see whether information technology was ever so anything to a greater extent than that in their next Netflix adventure.

What was Tanaka's plan?

Army of the Dead

Bly Tanaka was always hiding something up his arm, but the movie didn't quite spell what it was until the third act.

His head of security measur, Martin, didn't just accompany Robert Scott's team to Vegas so they could fairly apportion Tanaka's lost millions. No, instead he was in that location to hang-up the head of one of the 'Alpha' zombies. For Tanaka, that carries far greater value than the $200m in the vault – and it's heavily hinted that He's going to sell the head teacher, and all the secrets of its origins that come with it, to either the US government or the highest bidder.

From there? They'll have a whole army of Alphas at their administration, which is a scary proposal. Thankfully, the Alpha fairy's head took a get wise off the casino roof and left its brainpower matter smeared over the sidewalk. But Tanaka is still come out there, and might be potentially plotting his next move… Again, there's room for more stories to be explored in a sequel and Tanaka is nicely positioned A the series' overall Big Bad.

Are there zombies outside of Las Vegas?

If there weren't before, there certainly are now. The opening of the movie revealed the origins of the outbreak came from a loose Country 51 container that was involved in a nasty (and explosive) car crash.

The Zombie Wars that followed seemingly qualified the prepared of the snake god computer virus to the local area, with many of the undead now enclosed up in an derelict Las Vegas (as per the initiatory credits sequence).

Only now there's Vanderohe. Whether we see information technology happening Netflix in future or not, the world is expected doomed. Vanderohe has been bitten and is en path to Mexican capital. From thither, A he's likely going to be a zombie of the Alpha salmagundi, the undead scourge should spread crosswise North America.

Can zombies give birth?

Army of the Dead

In one of the most 'WTF' scenes in US Army of the Dead – and, remember, that includes the zombie Panthera tigris so it's actually saying something – Zeus finds that his now-beat queen was in-utero and pregnant with nipper.

Information technology's not clear whether the foetus would possess been human, zombie, or a hybrid of the two (we shudder to think about IT), though clearly the biology of the Alphas is more complex than we primitively realized – and zombies that breed could spell danger for the human universe.

Is on that point a stake-credits fit?

Army of the Dead

Unequal near of Snyder's DC efforts, U. S. Army of the Dead doesn't admit a post-credits scene. So, if you're watching in theaters you're free to leave American Samoa soon as the credits get-go. If you're connected Netflix, you're belik going to get a pop request you to lookout something else next. Don't occupy, you'Re non missing out if you click on that – though sitting through the credits and taking in just how many people were involved in output is always a nice idea, if you ask us.

What's next for US Army of the Dead?

Army of the Dead

Army of the Dead's succeeding step is going to be a rearwards one. Army of Thieves is a live-action prequel starring Matthias Schweighöfer as Dieter in his earlier safecracking years. The pic, which has wrapped production, also stars Game of Thrones' Nathalie Emmanuel and will stream on Netflix at some point in the near forthcoming.

Elsewhere, there's an lively prequel series, known as Lost Vegas, hard during the early days of the zombie outbreak. Scott and Kate Ward, Maria, Peters, and Vanderohe are all in reply from the of import cast – and will be sonant by the lively-action stray members. Joining them is Joe Manganiello As Rose, Christian Slater as Torrance, and Harry Lennix Eastern Samoa Boorman.
